Folk Dance Australia runs a recreational folk dance teacher training course. It is a practical, teaching methodology course which is flexible, allowing participants to work at their own pace, supported by a supervisor who is a trained FDA teacher.
“The course opened so many doors for me, e.g. teaching in two primary schools and running weekend workshops for students studying primary teaching at WSU”
“The course was very enjoyable for me. The thing that most stays in my mind from the course was the strong emphasis on rhythm and the ways to scaffold a dance (particularly a more complex one) so that you don’t have to learn it in big bites.”
“I think the course was great. One of the good things for me was getting to know some other folk dancers from around Australia because we are pretty isolated over here in the west.”
“The biggest benefit was understanding dance analysis and how to build up the dance structure so that all levels of experience enjoy the dance.”
“The FDA teaching methodology has so many elements that create the atmosphere and learning environment that engenders respect and a harmonious group.”
